A Scary Story About Zina Ash-Shawkฤni, in his biography of Muhammad ibn Al-Hasan ibn Ahmad Al-Haymi Al-Kawkabani, the literary judge, narrates the following: A man in Shibamโ€”likely Shibam Kawkabanโ€”pretended to be in love with a woman. He was known for his cunning and boldness, and he would constantly meet with her, as she could not resist him due to his overpowering force whenever he desired her. It happened that during the harvest season, he was guarding some crops in a house he owned in a pleasant area outside Shibam. One night, he secluded himself there with this woman. After the neighborhood had quieted, the people of Shibam heard a sound resembling thunder. The biographer, who was present, reports that the people were terrified and rushed to the rooftops. They saw guards rushing toward the manโ€™s house, claiming that a great star with a tremendous sound had descended upon his house. When they reached the house, they found it reduced to a mound of soil, and the man was inside, while they were unaware that the woman had been with him. The biographer continues: the authorities sent for me to witness the excavation, as I was the judge. They dug until morning, and there they found him upon the woman in the act of adultery, both transformed into a pile of molten matter. They removed and buried the remains, serving as a warning and lesson. Source: Al-Badr At-Taliโ€˜, Vol. 2, p. 153
