What is the ruling on a husband leaving the wife whose turn it is to visit his other wife?
Ibn Qudฤmah (may Allฤh have mercy on him) said:
โAs for entering upon her co-wife during her time: If it is at night, it is not permissible except for necessity, such as when she is at the point of death and he wishes to be present with her, or she wishes to entrust him with a will, or something unavoidable. If he does that and does not linger, he does not have to make it up. But if he stays and the sick woman recovers, he must make it up to the other wife from her night in proportion to the time he stayed with her. If he goes out for a non-essential need, he commits a sin. The ruling regarding making it up is the same as if he entered for a necessity, because there is no benefit in making up a trivial amount.
As for entering during the daytime upon a woman on a day that is not hers, it is permissible for a need, such as delivering provision, visiting her, asking about a matter that needs to be known, or visiting her due to a long absence, and the like, because of what สฟฤสพishah reported:
((ูุงู ุฑุณูู ุงููู ๏ทบ ูุฏุฎู ุนููู ูู ููู
ุบูุฑูุ ูููุงู ู
ูู ูู ุดูุก ุฅูุง ุงูุฌู
ุงุน))
โThe Messenger of Allฤh ๏ทบ would enter upon me on a day that was not mine and would enjoy everything from me EXCEPT INTERCOURSE.โ(*)
If he enters upon her, he should not have intercourse with her and should not stay long, because cohabitation is achieved by that, and she is not entitled to it. If he prolongs his stay with her, he must make it up.โ
