BENEFIT: Do not be discouraged from teaching because of low attendance — there may be hundreds more present whom we cannot see

Shaykh Wahb Adh-Dhayfāni (may Allāh have mercy on him) shared the following story in one of the Ḥā’iyyah classes: "Brothers, even the jinn attend the circles of knowledge. On one occasion, while we were giving daʿwah in a village, a man possessed by a jinn was brought to us. Some brothers performed ruqyah on him until the jinn began to speak. The jinn said: ‘I’ll leave him and go and attend knowledge with the rest of the students sitting in the courtyard.’ This was strange, because while the masjid did have a courtyard, the small number of students who attended would always sit inside the masjid, not outside. So we asked the jinn: ‘What students are you talking about?’ The jinn replied: ‘The students from among the jinn who attend these lessons.’ We didn’t believe him immediately, since the jinn are known to lie, especially during ruqyah. But then the jinn said: ‘I hear them saying: قال الإمام البخاري رحمه الله، حدثنا....حدثنا... "Imām al-Bukhārī (raḥimahullāh) said: so-and-so narrated to us, from so-and-so..." until the end of the chain.’ The lesson we learn from this, dear brothers, is that we should never belittle any effort in daʿwah. As long as you are sincere and calling to the truth, remain steadfast — even if only one or two people attend your class. Perhaps tens, or even hundreds from the jinn are present. In fact, Shaykh Muqbil (raḥimahullāh) even recorded an audio titled ‘My Advice to the Jinn’, in which he directly addressed and admonished them." @MasjidSahabah
