BENEFIT: Physical Training in the Masjid

Question:
O esteemed Shaykh ‘Abdul-‘Aziz, may Allah’s peace, mercy and blessings be upon you. I am one of the instructors at a military college, where I teach karate, a form of self-defence. The college does not have a designated place for training. Is it permissible for me to conduct the training in a place that is being built to serve as a masjid but has not yet been completed?
Sheikh Ibn Baz rahimahullah:
As long as this training is beneficial for the sake of Allah and for fighting His enemies, then there is no harm in it.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ permitted the Abyssinians to perform their displays in the masjid, and they played with their shields and spears, moving around the masjid with their shields and spears.
Therefore, if this activity can be used to help with self-defence, fighting the enemies, and protecting oneself from their harm, then there is no harm in doing it in a masjid that has an open courtyard and sufficient space, until another place becomes available for such activities.
This is on the condition that the activity does not cause harm to the masjid, such as damage to the building, urination, or anything else of that nature.
