19 October 2026 • 602 views
Becoming Muslim Becoming Muslim is simple. A person enters Islam by sincerely believing in its message and declaring the Shahādah (testimony of faith), affirming that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah and that Muhammad ﷺ is the Messenger of Allah. Why Obtain a Shahādah Certificate? A Shahādah certificate provides written confirmation of your acceptance of Islam. It may be useful when: - Hajj and Umrah: Providing proof of your Muslim status when required by travel agencies or authorities. - Islamic Marriage: Meeting documentation requirements for an Islamic marriage. - Community Services: Accessing certain Islamic services and institutions. - Personal Records: Keeping formal documentation of your reversion. - Legal Matters: Providing evidence of your religious status where required. Our Reversion Service Masjid As-Sahabah offers a reversion service, usually conducted by an imam. The imam briefly explains the fundamental beliefs of Islam, answers any initial questions, and assists the individual in reciting the Shahādah in Arabic, followed by its English translation. Once completed, the Shahādah certificate is approved, stamped by the masjid, and presented to the new Muslim. New Muslim Support Our “I've Embraced Islam — What's Next?” service is available upon request. It introduces new Muslims to the essentials of Islam, including wuḍūʾ, prayer and learning to read Qaʿidah . Anyone wishing to embrace Islam is welcome to visit the masjid during the week.
