Don’t Abandon Your Mother Tongue Preserving your mother tongue is important because it helps you stay connected to your identity and family, while also strengthening your ability to understand and convey knowledge clearly. For a student of knowledge, learning the language of the Qur’an and authentic teachings goes hand in hand with maintaining one’s own language, so that knowledge is not lost in translation.
