Take Responsibility Before Pointing Fingers
Ibn ʿAsākir said in Tārīkh Dimashq: Al-Fuḍayl said:
«إني لأعصي الله فأعرف ذلك من خلق حماري وخادمي»
“Indeed, I disobey Allāh, and I recognise this from the conduct of my donkey and my servant.”
Shaykh Ibn ʿUthaymīn (may Allāh have mercy on him) said:
“Evil does not befall people except as a result of their own deeds, as indicated by the statement of Allāh, the Exalted: ‘because of what your hands have put forth.’ Thus, all religious and worldly calamities occur because of our actions. If we were to remain upright, our affairs would be set right for us.”
