Giving Second Chances Surah Al-Kahf teaches many valuable lessons, including the importance of giving people second chances As Shaykh As-Sa'di (raḥimahullāh) explains regarding the Āyah: "Do not hold me accountable for what I have forgotten, and do not impose hardship upon me in my matter" [Al-Kahf: 73] This means: Do not make things difficult for me and show me leniency, as the mistake was made out of forgetfulness. Do not reprimand me for this initial error. The plea combines an acknowledgment of the mistake with an explanation that it was unintentional.
