Ruling on ʿUmrā and Ruqbā

Ibn Qudāmah (may Allāh have mercy on him) stated in Al-Mughnī [8/282]: "Both ʿUmrā and Ruqbā are permissible according to the majority of scholars. However, some have held that they are invalid because the Prophet ﷺ prohibited them." He continued: "Our evidence is the narration from Jābir (may Allāh be pleased with him), in which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ((العمرى جائزة لأهلها والرقبى جائزة لأهلها)) 'ʿUmrā is valid for its recipients, and Ruqbā is valid for its recipients."
