BENEFIT: Saying Āmīn loudly during the Friday Khutbah

Question: If the khaṭīb supplicates while on the pulpit, is it permissible for those in attendance to say "Āmīn" loudly? Sheikh Muqbil rahimahullah: The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever says to his brother 'keep quiet' while the imām is delivering the khuṭbah, has no [reward for] Jumu’ah." He also said regarding Jumu’ah: "Whoever speaks while the imām is delivering the khuṭbah, there is no Jumu’ah for him." Therefore, it is obligatory to remain silent for the khuṭbah. There is a difference of opinion regarding sending ṣalāh upon the Prophet ﷺ during the khuṭbah because the Prophet ﷺ said: "The miser is the one in whose presence I am mentioned and he does not send blessings upon me." He also said: "May he be humiliated, the one in whose presence I am mentioned and he does not send blessings upon me." So, if you hear the mention of the Prophet ﷺ during the khuṭbah, should you send ṣalāh upon him or not? It appears that you should listen attentively to the khuṭbah and not be distracted by anything else, unless the khaṭīb calls to falsehood such as democracy, pluralism, or elections. In such a case, you are not obligated to listen to him, as Allāh Almighty says in His Noble Book: "O you who have believed, when [the adhān] is called for the prayer on the day of Jumu'ah, then proceed to the remembrance of Allāh." Some of the early Muslims used to speak during the sermon when the Umayyad khaṭībs spoke ill of the Prophet's family. When someone asked them why they spoke during the sermon, they replied: "We were not commanded to listen to this." And Allāh knows best. https://t.me/masjidsahabah/1268
