وَإِذَا اسْـتَـدَلَّ يَـقُـولُ قَـالَ الْأَخْـطَـلُ and when evidencing (his claims), says: "Al-Akhṭal said"

-------------------------------- Ibnul Mubārak (D. 181 H.), may Allāh have mercy on him, said: «منْ أَعْظَمِ الْمَصَائِبِ لِلرَّجُلِ أَنْ يَعْلَمَ مِنْ نَفْسِهِ تَقْصِيرًا، ثُمَّ لَا يُبَالِي، وَلَا يَحْزَنُ عَلَيْهِ» "One of the greatest calamities to afflict man is that he realises his own shortcomings but turns a blind eye and feels no regret." [Shu’abul Īmān of Al-Bayhaqī (867)]
