"About a year before the passing of Shaykh Muqbil—may Allāh have mercy on him—when I was about nine years old, I used to crawl beneath it and face the wall, striving to read and memorise the Qur'ān. Sometimes I would close myself inside the table and press it against the wall so that I could revise without distractions. If sleep overtook me, I would sleep inside it. At times, some of the other boys would reach it before I did; and whoever reached it first had the greater right to it, so we would not dispute with him but accept and yield.
