6. Prophethood Began at Forty Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him): بُعِثَ رَسولُ اللهِ صلَّى اللهُ عليه وسلَّم لأربَعينَ سَنةً، فمَكُثَ بمَكَّةَ ثَلاثَ عَشرةَ سَنةً يوحى إليه، ثُمَّ أُمِرَ بالهِجرةِ فهاجَرَ عَشرَ سِنينَ، وماتَ وهو ابنُ ثَلاثٍ وسِتِّينَ. "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was sent as a prophet at the age of forty. He stayed in Makkah for thirteen years receiving revelation. Then he was commanded to migrate, so he migrated and lived for ten more years. He passed away at the age of sixty-three." [Reported by Bukhari 3902 & Muslim 2351] Benefit: Ash-Shawkani (may Allah have mercy on him) said: “The scholars of Tafsir said: "لم يبعث الله نبيا قط إلا بعد أربعين سنة.
