𝗠𝗮𝗱𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗮 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀 (52)

Ten Foundational Creedal Principles of Ahlus-Sunnah That Students of Knowledge Have to Master Sheikh Salih As-Sindi hafidhahullah mentioned these ten principles during his introductory class to Al-Wasitiyyah: 1⃣. The source of guidance for Ahlus-Sunnah is the Qur’an and the Sunnah. This is the first difference between them and those who oppose them. 2⃣. The religion is complete, and what is complete does not accept additions. There is no good or evil except that revelation has already made it clear. Therefore, introducing new matters into Allah’s religion is not allowed. 3⃣. Complete submission to the revealed texts, without objecting to them or trying to explore unseen matters using human reasoning alone. 4⃣. A hadith reported by a single route (Ahaad) is accepted as proof in matters of creed just as it is in matters of fiqh. What matters is that it is authentically established, not that it is widely transmitted. 5⃣. Accepting all the texts and removing any apparent contradictions between them. 6⃣. There is no real contradiction between sound reason and authentic revelation. If there seems to be a conflict, revelation is given priority and human reasoning is questioned. 7⃣. It is necessary to follow the way of the righteous early generations, especially in three matters: a) their method of deriving evidence, b) understanding the texts as they understood them, c) and remaining silent about issues they remained silent about. 8⃣. Warning against religious innovations and refuting those who promote them. 9⃣. No one is infallible after the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Anyone else may be right or wrong. We accept from their words what agrees with the truth and leave what goes against it. 🔟. The apparent meanings of the religious texts match what Allah intended and are understandable to those who are addressed by them. The sheikh concluded that the differences in creed among the various groups who identify as Muslim are due to shortcomings in some or all of the principles mentioned above.
