This path, may Allah grant you success, is a blessed path. It is a path in which sincerity can be noticed, Allah willing. It is a path in which contentment can be noticed. It is a path in which humility can be noticed. If we were people who collected money, during the days of the siege, there would be no wounded, no killed, no such people - like the women sheltering in the basements, and the men, and the children - we would have filled the world with pictures to collect money. Also, things were very strikingly significant, but we don't see tasweer of animate beings to be permissible. We don't want to disobey our Lord in order to collect money, and Allah will not honour us by disobeying Him. [Allah says] "Allah defends those who believe." [And He says] "Those who commit sins will be recompensed for their sins in kind, and humiliation will cover them." And since Ahlus-Sunnah, praise be to Allah, have contentment, have adherence, and stay far from sins in war and peace, Allah defended them. They did not emerge [from the siege of Dammaj] humiliated; they emerged honoured. Allah defended them and granted them victory despite their few numbers. [Allah says] "Indeed, Allah defends those who believe." [And He says]: "My guardian is Allah who revealed the Book, and He protects the righteous." Obey Allah, you will be victorious. Obey Allah, you will be honoured. The methods and means that people invent as causes for honour, causes for victory, causes for acceptance - if they contradict Shariah - will have an inverse effect. In whose hand is the dominion? Who gives honour? Who gives humiliation? Who gives generosity? Who gives? Who withholds? It is Allah, "Say: O Allah, Owner of Sovereignty, You give sovereignty to whom You will and You take sovereignty from whom You will. You honour whom You will and You humiliate whom You will. In Your hand is all good." Be with Allah always and don't worry; this is one of the statements of Ibn Al-Qayyim. Questioner: In addition to that, they have also started requiring a monthly subscription for separate electronic groups, where brothers meet with brothers and sisters meet with sisters, for the purpose of getting to know and connecting with those who follow the correct methodology. Sheikh As for the matter of getting to know one another—a person becoming acquainted with his brother or communicating with him, for example, so that he knows his brother and maintains a connection with him—this is a good thing. Similarly, a woman connecting with her sister through proper means of communication, not [video apps such as] Imo or similar platforms. And the same with brothers amongst themselves. As for the method of giving them smartphones or this approach—we do not recommend smartphones. In these places, we tell the youth that smartphones are not suitable for them. I fear for them, by Allah, of widespread fitnah. Even the married ones, by Allah, we fear greatly for them. However, we have observed that those who are married tend to have more safety, and the harm on them is less. In any case, there is no need for these smartphones. Whoever communicates with his brother in a manner free from fitnah, and a woman with her sister in a manner free from fitnah—this is something desirable, whether within the country or in the vast lands of Allah. Communication among Ahlus-Sunnah is important, as is strengthening bonds, rejoicing in their joy, grieving in their grief, offering condolences, comfort, congratulations, and similar things that are known to be the way of a brother with his brother in all circumstances.
