𝗠𝗮𝗱𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗮 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀 (50)

A believer is like a piece of sugar Do not regret any good deed, kindness, or favour you have done—even if no one thanks you, and even if the credit is given to someone else. Think about a piece of sugar. It gives all it has to the tea, then it disappears. After that, the praise goes to the tea, not to the sugar. So do not regret the good you have done or given. What is required of you is simply to do good and spread kindness, wherever it may fall. If your kindness reaches those who deserve it, then praise be to Allah—they are worthy of it. And if it reaches those who do not deserve it, then you are the one who is worthy, because you did not do good for the praise of people or their thanks. You did it seeking reward from Allah Almighty. { إِنَّمَا نُطۡعِمُكُمۡ لِوَجۡهِ ٱللَّهِ لَا نُرِیدُ مِنكُمۡ جَزَاۤءࣰ وَلَا شُكُورًا } “We feed you only for the sake of Allah. We want from you neither reward nor thanks.” [Surah Al-Insān: 9] Some people do good but forget to seek their reward from Allah. Instead, they wait for people’s reactions. So they feel sad when the response is not what they expected. The highest level of giving is to give without expecting anything in return. {إِنۡ أَجۡرِیَ إِلَّا عَلَى ٱللَّهِۖ} “My reward is only from Allah.” [Surah Yūnus: 72] How beautiful it is to give the best of what you have, even when you know the person may not deserve it—because you are dealing with the Most Generous, from whom you await reward in the Hereafter. If a person truly does not want to regret the good they have done, they should: do it and move on. Do not wait for people’s reactions. Let your deeds be for Allah alone. Be like the piece of sugar: give the best of what you have, then quietly leave and disappear. Let your constant attitude be: { وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِندَهُۥ مِن نِّعۡمَةࣲ تُجۡزَىٰۤ (19) إِلَّا ٱبۡتِغَاۤءَ وَجۡهِ رَبِّهِ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ (20) وَلَسَوۡفَ یَرۡضَىٰ (21) } “No one has any favour to repay me. I seek only the Face of my Lord, the Most High, and surely I will be satisfied.” [Surah Al-Layl: 19-21] I ask Allah Almighty to correct our deeds and make them sincere for His noble sake.
