3. The narration of Abu Saʿid, the chain appears to be good (Hasan), but the scholars explained the reason for its weakness. Some scholars held that it is actually a mursal report from Al-Hasan Al-Basri, meaning it is missing a Companion, though its chain is otherwise good. 4 - 10. The hadith was along narrated in marfū’ form by about ten Companions other than the three mentioned. Listing them all would take a long time, however, all of their chains are weak. ▪️The strongest among these narrations is the narration of Anas, along with the mursal report of Al-Hasan. There are also reports stopped at (i.e., attributed to) several Companions: ʿUmar, Abu Bakr, ʿUthman, and Ibn Masʿud. Therefore the hadith is authentic in the marfū’ form. Some scholars weakened the marfū’ form. Ibn Khuzaymah explicitly said that he did not know of any firmly established report on this from the Prophet ﷺ. Likewise, Al-Bayhaqi said that the strongest report is the one stopped at ʿUmar. However, the narration of Anas appears, based on its chain, to be good or even authentic. Those who weakened it explained their reasons, but I have not seen convincing proof for that. Otherwise, the hadith is Saheeh. He said: The fact that these Companions—may Allah be pleased with them—chose this opening supplication, and Umar reciting it audibly in the presence of other Companions so people could learn it, even though the Sunnah is normally to recite it quietly, shows that this is the best opening supplication. It also indicates that this was the supplication the Prophet ﷺ mostly used regularly. If one begins the prayer with the supplications narrated from ʿAli or Abu Hurayrah, that is also good, since those narrations are authentic. Source: https://t.me/madrasatuna/5827
