BENEFIT: Punishment for Beastiality & the Obligation of Ghusl in Such Cases

Question: The scholars have mentioned that whoever performs penetration into the anus, or into an animal, or into a corpse is required to perform ghusl (ritual bathing), regardless of whether the penetration is into a front or rear private part, whether of a human being or an animal, living or dead—similar to intercourse with a human during her lifetime. What is the ruling concerning one who penetrates an animal? And what is the benefit of ghusl, and how is it performed? Sheikh Najeeb Ash-Shar’abi ḥafidhahullāh: Whoever penetrates an animal has committed a prohibited act among the grave prohibitions. His punishment is discretionary (taʿzīr), to be determined by the ruler according to what he deems an appropriate penalty. As for the benefits of ghusl from janābah, both jurists and physicians have mentioned its benefits. Ibn Al-Qayyim rahimahullah said in Iʿlām Al-Muwaqqiʿīn (vol. 2, p. 45): “The eminent physicians have explicitly stated that bathing after intercourse restores strength to the body and replaces what has been depleted from it. Indeed, it is among the most beneficial things for both the body and the soul, and abandoning it is harmful. The testimony of sound intellect and natural disposition suffices regarding its goodness.
