EXPLANATION OF THE LĀMIYYAH OF IBN TAYMIYYAH https://t.me/madrasatuna LINE 3: Shaykhul Islām Aḥmad ibn 'Abdil-Ḥalīm ibn 'Abdis-Salām -may Allāh have mercy on him- says: حُـبُّ الـصَّـحَـابَـةِ كُـلِّـهِـمْ لِـي مَـذْهَـبٌ Loving the companions, all of them (without exception) is part of my doctrine وَمَـوَدَّةُ الْـقُـرْبَـى بِـهَـا أَتَـوَسَّـلُ And through loving the nearest ones (Ahlul-Bayt) do I seek nearness (to Allāh) 1. In this line, the poet begins to mention some of his beliefs; and the first matter of belief that he mentions is: BELIEF 1: ʟᴏᴠɪɴɢ ᴀɴᴅ ʜᴏɴᴏᴜʀɪɴɢ ᴛʜᴇ Ṣᴀḥᴀ̄ʙᴀʜ; ᴇᴠᴇʀʏ sɪɴɢʟᴇ ᴏɴᴇ ᴏғ ᴛʜᴇᴍ ᴡɪᴛʜᴏᴜᴛ ᴇxᴄᴇᴘᴛɪᴏɴ. 2. Who is a Ṣaḥābī (companion)? A Ṣaḥābī is someone who: a. met the Prophet ﷺ, b. believed in him, c. and died in the state of Islām. 3. Allāh chose the Ṣahābah to be the companions, advisors, protectors and helpers of His Messenger ﷺ. Ibn Mas'ūd, may Allāh be pleased with him, narrated: "Allāh looked at the hearts of His creation, and found that the best of hearts is that of Muhammad (ﷺ), so He chose him for Himself and entrusted him with His Message. Then He looked again and found the hearts of the Companions to be the best of hearts, so He made them advisors to His prophet - fighting for his religion." [Musnad Aḥmad; authenticated by Shaykh Muqbil Al-Wādi'ī in Ṣahīḥ Al-Musnad] Furthermore, they witnessed and heard the revelation from the Prophet ﷺ first-hand, hence, they are the most knowledgeable of this Ummah with regards to its interpretation and application. 4. The evidences establishing the virtues and excellence of the Ṣaḥābah are numerous. Here are some of the evidences from the Qur'ān: Firstly, Allāh ﷻ said regarding them: {وَالسَّابِقُونَ الْأَوَّلُونَ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ وَالْأَنْصَارِ وَالَّذِينَ اتَّبَعُوهُمْ بِإِحْسَانٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا عَنْهُ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي تَحْتَهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا أَبَدًا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ} "As for the foremost—from the Muhājirūn and the Anṣār—and those who follow them in goodness, Allāh is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him. And He has prepared for them Gardens under which rivers flow, to dwell therein forever. That is the ultimate success." [Sūrat At-Tawbah 100] In this Āyah, Allāh clearly states that He is pleased with them and they too are pleased with Him. So, He has prepared for them Gardens under which rivers flow, to dwell therein forever.
