𝗠𝗮𝗱𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗮 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀 (21)

The Mother of the Book is Sūrah Al-Fātiḥah, and The Mother of the Sunnah is The Ḥadīth of Jibrīl Imām Abūl ʿAbbās Al-Qurṭubī said in his commentary on this ḥadīth: Qāḍī ʿIyāḍ said: This ḥadīth encompasses all the functions of outward and inward acts of worship: the doctrines of faith, the deeds of the bodily limbs, the sincerity of inner intentions, and vigilance against the corruptions that afflict deeds. Indeed, all the sciences of the Sharīʿah return to it and branch out from it. Al-Qurṭubī remarked: Thus, it is appropriate that this ḥadīth be described as “the Mother of the Sunnah,” because it contains the comprehensive principles of the knowledge of the Sunnah, just as Al-Fātiḥah was named “the Mother of the Book” because it contains the comprehensive meanings of the Qurʾān.
