I chose Sheikh Al-Albani first because he is one of the most renowned muhaddiths of our time, with works that many people did not even consider possible. Secondly, every muhaddith is a faqih, but not every faqih is a muhaddith. So, while Sheikh Ibn ʿUthaymeen and Ibn Bāz were strong in matters of fiqh, the fact that Sheikh Al-Albani was well-versed in ʿIlm Ar-Rijāl and the books of hadith gave him an advantage when it came to arriving at the final rulings. Thirdly, his method of teaching was very simple, broken down, and easy even for the laypeople of his land to understand. When you listen to his tapes Silsilat al-Hudā wa An-Nūr, you feel as though you are sitting in front of him benefitting directly; the way he teaches his students is like a father teaching his son. Finally, he was among those who did not take lightly the people of innovation and their false principles. From this, you see the fruits in his students—among them Sheikh Muqbil (rahimahullāh), who benefitted greatly from him and also went on to become a muhaddith.
