Worship is not limited to the masjid
Sheikh ’Abdulkareem Al-Khudhair ḥafidhahullāh said:
The matters of this worldly life should not be the Muslim’s main concern; only a sufficient portion of it is needed. Self-interest regarding worldly affairs is of little consequence so long as one’s principal capital—namely, religion—remains intact. Many people have lived decades in this world, indeed some have lived their entire lives, in ways contrary to what Allāh, exalted is He, desires from His servants. The fundamental principle is that a person should live for his religion. Yet because human beings require something of this world, Allāh said: “And do not forget your share of the world.”
Unfortunately, many Muslims live for this world; their entire lives and their deepest concerns revolve around worldly matters. Despite this, a person may forget his share of the Hereafter—or he may not.
This does not mean that a person must devote twenty hours a day to worship—fasting by day, praying by night, giving charity, striving in Allāh’s cause throughout his entire life without pause. A Muslim’s whole life may be considered an act of worship while he remains at ease and lives comfortably, if he intends by his ordinary actions to draw nearer to Allāh, exalted is He. In that case, his entire life becomes worship: even what he places in his wife’s mouth, even what he eats to strengthen himself for obedience to Allāh, even his sleep through which he gains energy for worship. All of this is worship.
Thus his life becomes devoted to Allāh, exalted is He: “Say, indeed my prayer, my sacrifice, my living and my dying are all for Allāh.” All of it is for Allāh.
