"If a man was on his path to face his enemy, but his armour weighed him down, so he took it off; his sword burdened him, so he cast it aside; his food and drink became a hindrance, so he abandoned them—then he met his enemy unarmed, defenseless, and hungry—how could he possibly emerge victorious?
Likewise is the one who finds remembrance of Allāh burdensome and thus forsakes it, who finds regular Sunnah prayers too heavy and neglects them, who finds obligatory duties cumbersome and delays them, who deems divine commands and prohibitions too difficult and thus disregards them—then he complains of Shayṭān’s dominance over his heart. Yet, he had already brought himself down before his enemy could do so."
