THE BASICS OF ARABIC READING AND WRITING | Lesson 2 (summary) 1. In this lesson we learn 3 new letters; JEEM (ج) ḤAA (ح) KHAA (خ) 2. These three letters are written in exactly the same way; the only difference is dot placement. 3. These 3 letters belong to the family of 'drop down letters' (letters that drop below the line when writing). 4. Jeem and Ḥaa are light letters, whereas Khaa is a heavy letter (we explained the difference between these two terms in the video). 5. H/W - to write 5 rows for each letter, making sure to say the letters out loud in the process. _______________________ A point of reflection: اليوم شيء وغدا مثله * من نخب العلم التي تلتقط [learn] something today and the same tomorrow * from the fine [benefits] of knowledge that one aquires يحصل المرء بها حكمة * وإنما السيل باجتماع النقط through which a person gains insight * for indeed, a flood is nothing but a collection of droplets
