BENEFIT 331: Major Innovations Originate from Minor Ones

Imam Al-Barbahāri, may Allāh have mercy on him, said:
«واحذر صغار المحدثات من الأمور فإن صغير البدع يعود حتى يصير كبيرا، وكذلك كل بدعة أحدثت في هذه الأمّة كان أَولها صغيرا يشبه الحق، فاغتر بذلك من دخل فيها، ثمّ لم يستطعِ الخروج منها، فعظمت وصارت دينا يدان بها»
"Beware of the minor newly introduced matters in religion, for small innovations grow until they become major. Similarly, every innovation introduced in this Ummah initially started as something minor, resembling the truth, which deceived those who became involved in it. They were then unable to exit from it, and it grew until it became significant and was regarded as part of the religion."
