Mufradaat Benefits (4)

Abu Rayhana AbdulHakeem Al-Amreeki ḥafidhahullāh mentioned the following benefit during a recent lecture on المروءة: "There is a benefit that we want to recognise, linguistically. This is a little benefit in Arabic concerning this word, المرء. Muru'ah comes from the word المرء. المرء is a man. المرأة is a woman. This word comes in the Quran and the Sunnah. We know, and this is a side benefit, that in Arabic there's something that's called i'raab. That the end of the word changes. The end of the word, it can go from muhammadun or muhammadan or muhammadin. Okay. And also the word like house/bayt, it could go from baytun or baytan or baytin, i'rab is the changing of just the last letter the last letter. Like tree is shajaratun or shajaratan or shajaratin, just the changing of the last letter. But in this word مرء the last two letters change, not just the changing of the last letter. The last two letters both of them change; the raa ra and the hamza. If it's marfu with a dhamma {إن امرُؤٌ هلك} The ra and the hamza both of them get a dhamma. In Surah Maryam, Allah سبحانه وتعالى says, {يا أخت هارون ما كان أبوك امرَأَ سوء} The ra and the hamza both of them have a fat-hah. In Surah Al-’Abasa Allah سبحانه وتعالى says {لكل امرِئٍ منهم} The raa and the Hamza both get a Kasrah. And this word مرء, it changes more than any other word. And we just mentioned that not just the end changes, the middle letter and the end letter change the same. And this is how mankind is. He is ever changing يتَقَلَّبْ he's changing. He's never stationary. It's hardly ever ثابت, ever firm." ➡️ @mufradaatun
