Your Good Qualities May Not Be Appreciated by Everyone Sheikh Dagash Al-Ajmi hafidhahullah says: Al-Jarbāʾ the wife of Talhah ibn Ubaydillah was a woman who had been blessed with exceptional beauty and attractiveness. Any woman who stood beside her would feel that she looked unattractive compared to Al-Jarbāʾ because of her beauty. As a result, women avoided being around her, and so she came to be known as "Al-Jarbāʾ" (the mangy woman); because women did not like to sit with her. This was mentioned by Ibn Hajar in his book Al-Isabah. Sometimes your good qualities cause people to distance themselves from you. Allah, the Most High, may bless you with intelligence, and foolish people may stay away from you because they think you are smarter than they are. He may bless you with knowledge, and ignorant people who have no desire to benefit from your knowledge may avoid you because they think you are better than they are. He may bless you with generosity, and stingy people may distance themselves from you because they see your generosity as wastefulness and recklessness. And cowardly people may stay away from you because they see your courage and willingness to take initiative as recklessness and self-destruction. Sometimes your good qualities are the reason why people keep their distance from you.
