Samurah ibn Jundub, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ((كلُّ غُلامٍ رَهينةٌ بعَقيقتِه، تُذبَحُ عنه يومَ سابِعِه، ويُحلَقُ، ويُسمَّى)) "EVERY BOY is a hostage for his ’Aqiqah, which should be slaughtered on the seventh day, his head shaved, and he should be named." [Collected by Abu Dawood (2837), Tirmidhi (1522), and the wording is his. It was authenticated by Al-Albani in 'Sahih Sunan At-Tirmidhi' (1522) and Al-Wadi’ee in 'As-Sahih Al-Musnad' (455)] The term "every" in the text is a general expression, which includes both a legitimate child and a child born from unlawful relations.
