BENEFIT: الله يخليك!

Lit. May Allāh leave you/ let you be. I sometimes hear my mother making this supplication for others, so I advised her that some scholars have criticised it. It is said that a man once supplicated for Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen rahimahullah, saying "الله يخليك", to which the Sheikh replied, "If He leaves me, then who will care for me?" He then said, let us supplicate for those we love with phrases such as, "May Allāh preserve, protect, care for, and bless you." I also heard a similar statement from Sheikh Abu Bilal ḥafidhahullāh during one of his classes.
