"...And you, O Muslim, beware of turning people away from this religion, whether directly or indirectly, through your actions. Instead, your role is to explain Islam and invite others to it, not to drive them away. When the Prophet ﷺ sent Abu Musa and Mu'adh to Yemen, he instructed them: "Give glad tidings, and do not repel people; make things easy and do not make them difficult; and cooperate and do not differ."
When a man complained to the Prophet ﷺ about Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) prolonging the prayer, to the point where the man nearly abandoned praying in congregation, the Prophet said, "Among you are those who push people away (from the religion)." Then he addressed Mu'adh, saying, "Are you a troublemaker, O Mu'adh?" He instructed Mu'adh to recite certain shorter surahs when leading people in prayer, so as not to cause difficulty. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever leads people in prayer must lighten the prayer," and he cautioned Mu'adh, who would pray behind the Prophet ﷺ and then go to lead his people, prolonging the prayer. The Prophet ordered him to shorten it, so as not to drive people away, even if the reason was through acts of worship.
If the disbelievers openly and blatantly block the path to Islam, sometimes such barriers may also arise from incorrect judgments made by Muslims themselves, inadvertently pushing people away..."
