الله يحفظكم There's a Musallah in a hospital and they make the athan and jama'at for all salawat including jumuah, does it take the hukm of a masjid? And does it suffice for a person to attend there instead of the masjid? Sheikh Muḥammad Aṣ-Ṣilwi ḥafidhahullāh: Hospital prayer rooms and similar spaces, such as those found in restaurants and the like, are not considered masjids. Rather, they serve as prayer spaces for those with valid excuses or busy schedules, such as travellers, those accompanying patients, doctors, and administrative staff whose work prevents them from leaving (to attend congregation in the masjid). These individuals are permitted to pray there due to their circumstances. However, those without an excuse should not pray in these prayer rooms, because they take the ruling of a prayer space, not a masjid. May Allāh bless you. These places do not carry the same ruling as a masjid and they are do not serve as a substitute for attending Friday and congregational prayers at the masjid, except for those with a valid excuse, such as an on-duty doctor, a patient, or a companion who must stay at the hospital.
