Imposing Taxes is a Major Sin

Sheikh Yaḥyā ḥafidhahullāh states:
"...Therefore, brothers, this is indeed a MAJOR SIN—one which the scholars have unanimously agreed is a major sin. المكوس - Taxes and customs - are considered among the major sins by concensus. Is there any repentance from this major sin? By Allāh, they do not increase a person's wealth. Taxes and customs duties do not bring their collector any increase in wealth, growth, or blessing. Instead, they bring hardship in health, trouble with children, weakening of one’s religion, and corruption in earnings and well-being. Every bit of good they have is diminished as long as they persist in disobedience. Sins have bad consequences, as Allāh says:
"As for those who commit evil, the reward of an evil deed is its equivalent. Humiliation will cover them" [Sūrah Yūnus: 27]
"Those who oppose Allah and His Messenger will be among the humiliated" [Sūrah Al-Mujādilah: 20]
"Then if there comes to you guidance from Me, then whoever follows My Guidance he shall neither go astray, nor shall be distressed" [Sūrah Ṭā-Hā: 123].
"But whoever turns away from My Reminder..." and this -the evidences prohibiting such practice- is from Allāh's Reminder:
"...will certainly have a miserable life" [Sūrah Ṭā-Hā: 124]
