Al-Ḥafidh Ibn Rajab raḥimahullāh said:

«ولم يزلْ علماءُ السلف يلبسونَ الثيابَ الحسنةَ، ولا يعدونَ ذلك كِبرًا»
"The scholars of the early generations would wear fine clothing, and they did not see this to be a form of arrogance."

The Prophet ﷺ said:
((إِنَّ اللهَ جَمِيلٌ يُحِبُّ الْجَمَالَ الْكِبْرُ بَطَرُ الْحَقِّ وَغَمْطُ النَّاسِ))
