Response:
The ’Eid gatherings organised by the sisters at Masjid Muqbil are different, in that their objective is NOT fundraising, but rather to come together and celebrate 'Eid, as the Prophet ﷺ stated:
((لَتَعْلَمُ يَهُودُ أَنَّ فِي دِينِنَا فُسْحَةً))
"Let the Jews know that our religion has a broad scope" [Reported by Ahmad (24334); authenticated by Sheikh Albani in "Sahih Al-Jami" (3219)].
The stalls are a convenient addition to save guests from having to go in and out of the venue. Vendors earn money, so it is only fair that they contribute towards hall hire. All of this is from the angle of المعاملات, where the default ruling is permissiblity!
If the hosts happen to make a profit, which is rare, the proceeds are allocated to future events. However, it’s important to note that this is SUBSIDIARY and not the primary goal, unlike these other fundraising events.
