Ash-Shāṭibi raḥimahullāh said: «إن العالم المعلوم بالأمانة والصدق والجري على سنن أهل الفضل والدين والورع إذا سئل عن نازلة فأجاب، أو عرضت له حالة يبعد العهد بمثلها ، أو لا تقع من فهم السامع موقعها: أن لا يواجه بالاعتراض والنقد فإن عرض إشكال فالتوقف أولى بالنجاح وأحرى بادراك البغية إن شاء الله تعالى» "If a scholar known for integrity, honesty, and adherence to the path of the virtuous and pious is consulted about a Nāzilah and provides an answer, or if he encounters a situation that is uncommon or difficult for the listener to grasp, it is not appropriate to confront him with objections and criticism. Should any confusion arise, it is better to withhold judgment, as this approach is more likely to lead to success and achieving the desired outcome, in-shā-Allāh."
