LĀMIYYAH OF IBN TAYMIYYAH

LINE 2:
Shaykhul Islām Aḥmad ibn 'Abdil-Ḥalīm ibn 'Abdis-Salām -may Allāh have mercy on him- says:
اِسْـمَـعْ كَـلَامَ مُـحَـقِّـقٍ فِـي قَـوْلِـهِ
Listen to the speech of one who is assured in his statement
لَا يَـنْـثَـنِـي عَـنْـهُ وَلَا يَـتَـبَـدَّلُ
He does not turn away from it nor is he undecided
1. The phrase: ْاِسْمَع (Listen!) is used to grab the attention of the one being addressed, as though to say, listen very carefully, as what I'm going to say is very important. This is similar to the phrase, ْاِعْلَم (Know!), which is commonly found in the works of Shaykhul-Islām Muḥammad Ibn 'Abdilwahhāb.
2. "...to the speech of one who is assured in his statement"
This means that he is firm and confident in his belief; he doesn't waver, nor does he have any doubts concerning it.
3. "He doesn't turn away from nor is he undecided"
This means that he doesn't renounce or abandon his creed, as it is derived from divine sources which contain certainties beyond doubt; namely, the Qur'ān, Sunnah, and Ijmā' (concensus).
4. It's compulsory for a Muslim to be absolutely certain in his beliefs. With regards to Aqīdah, there's no room for any doubts or hesitation; since these are clear-cut matters which have been agreed upon. So, he must stand firm upon the correct creed, like the firmness of the mountains.
