{وَمَاۤ أَصَـٰبَكُم مِّن مُّصِیبَةࣲ فَبِمَا كَسَبَتۡ أَیۡدِیكُمۡ وَیَعۡفُوا۟ عَن كَثِیرࣲ}

"Whatever affliction befalls you is because of what your own hands have committed. And He pardons much." [Surah Ash-Shūrā: 30] Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim rahimahullah said: يُحكى أنّ بعضَ أصحاب الماشية كان يُشوِّبُ اللّبنَ ويبيعهُ على أنه خالص ، فأرسلَ الله عليه سَيلًا !! فذهبَ بالغنم ، فجعلَ يعجبُ! فأُتيَ في مَنامهِ فقيل له: "أتعجَبُ من أخذِ السّيل غنمكَ؟ إنه تلك القطَرات التي شُبتَ بها اللّبن؛ اجتمعتْ وصارتْ سيلًا." فقِسْ على هذه الحكاية ما تراهُ في نفسكَ ، وفي غيركَ ، تعلَمْ حينئذٍ أنّ الله قائمٌ بالقِسط ، وأنه قائمٌ على كلّ نفسٍ بما كسبتْ ، وأنه لا يظلمُ مثقال ذرّة. It is relayed that someone who owned livestock used to dilute milk and sell it as pure (milk). So Allah sent a flood upon him, which swept away his sheep. He was astonished! Then he was shown in a dream and was told: "Are you surprised that the flood took your sheep? It was those drops you used to mix with the milk; they accumulated and became a flood." Reflect on this story in regard to yourself and others, and you will understand that Allāh is Just, that He watches over every soul and its deeds, and that He does not wrong even the weight of an atom. مفتاح دار السعادة (٢٥٣/١)].
