Ibnul Qayyim rahimahullah said:
إذا غَفل القلب عن الذِكر ساعة واحدة، جثم عليه الشيطان، ووعده، وَمَنّاه، وَشَهّاه؛ وهام به في كل واد.
"If the heart neglects remembrance [of Allāh] for even a single hour, Shaytan overwhelms it, promising and enticing it [with desires], and leading it astray in every direction."
