It's Just An Itch. Don't Get Carried Away!

Sheikh Albani rahimahullah said: "Among the illusions and superstitious beliefs of the lay people is that itching in the right hand signifies incoming provision, and itching in the left hand signifies spending money. This may sometimes happen by coincidence, leading one to believe that this superstition is true and proven! This is a type of Ṭiyarah (divination), and Ṭiyarah is associating partners with Allah the Almighty, as established in the hadith: ((الطيرة شرك، الطيرة شرك، الطيرة شرك)) "Divination is shirk, divination is shirk, divination is shirk." [Reported by Abu Dawood] And those who hold this superstitious belief fall under the threat of Allāh's Messenger ﷺ in his saying: ((ليس منا من تطير أَو تطير له أَو تكهن أو تكهن له أَو سحر أَو سحر له)) "He is not one of us who practices divination or has it done for him, or who practices soothsaying or has it done for him, or who practices sorcery or has it done for him."
