Avoid Debts!

Sheikh Ibn 'Uthaymeen raḥimahullāh said:
«لا ينبغي للإنسان أن يستدين إلا إذا دعت الضرورة إلى ذلك؛ لا يستدين لا لزواج، ولا لبناء بيت، ولا لكماليات في البيت، كل هذا من السفه. يقول الله عزّ وجلَّ: ﴿وَلْيَسْتَعْفِفِ الَّذِينَ لَا يَجِدُونَ نِكَاحًا حَتَّى يُغْنِيَهُمُ اللهُ من فَضْلِهِ﴾ [النور: ۳۳]. وهذا في النكاح، فما بالك بما هو دونه بكثير؟!»
"A person should not go into debt unless absolutely necessary. One should not go into debt for marriage, building a house, or household luxuries. All of this is considered foolishness. Allah the Almighty says: "And let those who do not find the means to marry keep themselves chaste until Allah enriches them from His bounty." [An-Nur: 33]. This applies to marriage, so what about matters that are of much lesser importance?!"
