Passing wind inside the masjid!

The questioner asks about the ruling on intentionally passing wind in the masjid. Sheikh Yahya ḥafidhahullāh responds: Intentionally doing so is not permissible if one has the option to step outside, as it causes harm. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever eats garlic or onions, let him stay away from us," and in another narration, "let him not come near our masjid." He also said that the angels are irritated by what irritates the children of Adam. If this applies to the smell of garlic and onions, it applies even more so to the intentional passing of wind, especially in masjids, which are meant to be free from impurities and foul odours.
