Question: Assalamu 'Aleikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. Some newspapers have reported that a jinn embraced Islam through your guidance. Could you please clarify this matter, and do jinn inhabit or affect humans? Sheikh 'Abdulaziz ibn Baz, may Allāh have mercy on him, responded: "Yes, this news is true. Abul 'Abbas Ibn Taymiyyah mentioned the consensus of scholars regarding the possibility of jinn entering into humans and causing them harm. This phenomenon has occurred since the time of the Prophet until the present day, and even before. Those who deny or doubt this lack insight and have not studied the works of scholars or examined what they have documented in this regard. A woman and her guardians came to me, accompanied by a group of scholars. The brother in faith, 'Abdullah ibn Yusuf Al-Umari, Imam of Al-Ulyaa' Masjid, had treated the woman. He directed the jinn towards Islam, advised it, invited it to Islam, encouraged it to do good, warned it against injustice, and instructed it to leave the woman and cease harming her. The jinn accepted his advice. The woman's guardians requested the raaqi to bring both the woman and the jinn to me to declare its conversion to Islam. They all came to me: a group of Muslims, her brothers, her uncle, her sister, and several students of knowledge. The jinn spoke through the woman in a man's voice, without any doubt. It explained the reasons for its possession and its actions, stating that it was a Buddhist jinn. It had been convinced by the guidance of 'Abdullah ibn Yusuf Al-Umari and accepted his invitation to Islam. Allah guided it to embrace Islam, and it declared its reversion in my presence. I advised it to call its people to Allāh and to express gratitude for the blessing of Islam by guiding others. After our conversation, its final words were "Assalamu 'Aleikum," and then it departed from her. By the grace of Allāh, the woman is in good health and well-being. I spoke to her a few days ago and asked about her condition; she confirmed that she is healthy and that the jinn has not returned since it left her. She mentioned that for about two years, she had suffered greatly, enduring significant harm and distress. It had instilled destructive thoughts and urged her towards Buddhism. She felt herself leaning towards harmful ideas and the Buddhist religion. However, after Allah saved her from it, those thoughts vanished, and she returned to her original state and natural Islamic faith. The point is that this phenomenon is real. It has also occurred with other scholars from the past, such as Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal and Sheikhul Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, among others. Scholars have clarified this matter, and there is no ambiguity. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Shaytaan circulates through the son of Adam as blood circulates." Jinn are of different types; they are not all the same. In the two Sahihs, the Prophet ﷺ said, "Shaytaan circulates through the son of Adam as blood circulates." Source: https://binbaz.org.sa/fatwas/4417/قصة-اسلام-الجني-على-يد-سماحة-الشيخ-ابن-باز
