The criterion with respect to obeying one's parents

Sheikh Uthaymeen raḥimahullāh said: "The principle with respect to obeying one's parents is that it is obligatory in matters that benefit them and do not harm the child. This is the principle. If there's benefit for them...and no harm upon him, then he is obligated to comply. However, if there is no benefit and it is merely an exercise of authority by the parents, then he is not required to obey them." @salafihomeschooling
