Killing snakes

A brother asks: If a snake enters the house, should it be killed immediately or how should one deal with it?
Sheikh Rashad Adh-Dhāli'ee, may Allāh protect him, responds:
"Yes, it should be killed immediately except in the houses of the Madinah, the city of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him; you should warn it three times [before proceeding to kill it]. For it has been confirmed in Sahih Muslim, from the hadith of Abu Sa'eed, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, this city has jinns who have embraced Islam or there are jinn in it, and among them are these serpents. So if you see anything of that, warn it." meaning, he commands it to leave three times. If it leaves, well and good; if not, then he kills it. As for in other cities, it is permissible to kill it immediately."
