Leaning on the left hand
Question: Respected Sheikh, may Allah preserve you in your residency and journeys. What is the ruling on leaning on the left hand behind the back? Is it from the manners of those who incur wrath, as mentioned in some narrations? Is it permissible to lean on the right hand behind the back? Or to lean on both hands behind the back together? May Allah reward you with goodness. Response of Sheikh Hassan Ba-Shu'aib hafidahullah: This sitting is mentioned in the narration of Shareed ibn Suwayd, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: . "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, passed by me while I was sitting like this, with my left hand placed behind my back, and I leaned on my palm. He said, 'Do you sit in the manner of those who incur wrath?'" However, this narration is not authentic. It was narrated by Ahmad and Abu Dawood, and it is weak due to the عنعنة of Ibn Juraij, who is a Mudallis. Likewise, there is no evidence regarding leaning on the right hand or on both hands behind the back. Allah knows best, and the origin is permissibility. Source: https://t.me/Bashuaib/7169
