Lit. When the handling increases, the sensation decreases.
Meaning: The more a person engages in something, the more they grow desensitised to it
EXAMPLE 1:
Sheikh ibn Baz rahimahullah said: "Ibn An-Naแธฅแธฅฤs stated in his book 'Tanbeeh Al-Ghaafileen' what validates Sheikh Ibrahim's statement, "ุฅุฐุง ูุซุฑ ุงูุฅู
ุณุงุณ ูู ุงูุฅุญุณุงุณ". Ibn An-Naแธฅแธฅฤs, may Allฤh have mercy on him, said that some of the Salaf left their homes one day and saw a wrongdoing, so they became so enraged for Allฤh's sake that they urinated blood. Then, on another occasion, they went out and saw the wrongdoing once again, but they did not urinate blood; they felt anger, disapproval, but urinated normal urine. Then, when they saw the wrongdoing a third time, they neither urinated blood nor normal urine, but they still disapproved of it."
EXAMPLE 2:
Sheikh Abdul Kareem Al-Khuแธair said: "Unfortunately, because of these matters, from desires and doubts and from continuously looking at wrongdoing, wrongdoing has become easy for them. Before three, four, or five years, if a mobile phone rang in the masjid with a musical tone, everyone would object to it. Then after that, only a few of the pious ones would object, and now it is rare to find anyone objecting. Is it because the ruling has changed? No, it's because ู
ุงุช ุงูุฅุญุณุงุณ (complete desensitisation), we don't say ูู ุงูุฅุญุณุงุณ it has decreased, rather ู
ุงุช ุงูุฅุญุณุงุณ it is dead!... And our brother says tasweer is the same thing. We found people years ago breaking cameras. They were broken if seen in public...Some officials used to wander with some of the brothers in the holy places, breaking cameras. Taking pictures from inside the holy places was prohibited for a while, then people got accustomed to it, and it has now become commonplace and no one objects."
EXAMPLE 3:
Sheikh Abdur-Razzaq Al-Badr said: "The scholars, may Allฤh have mercy on them, gave an example of entering into sin and disobedience and how it begins gradually, step by step, until a person delves deep into it, as Allฤh Almighty said, "O you who believe, do not follow the footsteps of Shayแนญฤn." This example given by the scholars has been mentioned by Imam Ahmad and others. They say, it is like a man wearing clean clothes and new garments passing through a muddy place, and he wants to pass through that path [cleanly]. How does he behave? You find that initially, he is extremely cautious, so that nothing from the mud touches his clothes or anything of this dirt. You find him looking for a high rock and a high place where his clothes would be safe, and he continues to remain cautious. Maybe something from the mud touches his foot, but he is still cautious. Then it touches him again, then the mud starts to touch his clothes more and more. What does he do after that? You find him plunging into the mud and dirt without any care. This is the state of the sinner. Initially, you find him entering with cautious steps, afraid and cautious, advancing and then taking another step, and so on until he delves into the wrongdoing and plunges into falsehood, and he no longer has any feeling...that is because:
