This is not a paid role. The incentive supercedes any financial gain:
'Uthmān ibn 'Affān (May Allāh be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said,
((خيركم من تعلم القرآن وعلمه‏))
"The best amongst you is the one who learns the Qur'ān and teaches it." [Al-Bukhāri]
This was the same incentive that motivated Abū 'Abdirrahmān As-Sulami to continue holding regular Qur’ān classes in the Great Masjid of Al-Kūfah for many years until his death.
