Question: Is Ḍhuḥā prayer offered on the day of 'Eid?

Sheikh 'Adnān Al-Maṣqari ḥafidhahullāh: Yes, the Ḍhuḥā prayer is legislated on the day of 'Eid and on other days as well. However, it is not legislated to offer the Ḍhuḥā prayer before the 'Eid prayer. Because Ibn 'Abbās said: He ﷺ did not pray anything before it nor after it (i.e. The 'Eid Ṣalāh)...Therefore, the Sunnah on the day of 'Eid as it relates to the outdoor pray area/Muṣallā is not to pray anything, neither before nor after the 'Eid prayer, so that people do not think you are performing the taḥiyyatul Muṣallā (greeting prayer for the Muṣallā). It is better for people to not see you performing something that Allāh has not legislated for you, but you can perform the Ḍhuḥā prayer when you return to your home or masjid."
