BENEFIT 106: If someone has gold that does not reach the threshold for Zakāh, but also has money, should the value of the gold be combined with the money to pay Zakāh? This is one of the problematic issues in the rulings of Zakah. Is cash combined with gold or silver to complete the threshold for Zakah? When we were studying the book relating to the rulings of Zakah with our Sheikh Zaaid Al-Wasabi - may Allāh preserve him - he said to me: هذه من المسائل التي لازلت أبحث عنها، وفي نفسي منها شيء.اهـ "This is one of the issues that I am still researching, and I am undecided." And what seems correct - and Allāh knows best - is that it they are not combined, and this is the view chosen by our Sheikh, Yahya Al-Hajuri, may Allāh preserve him. So I asked our Sheikh Yahya, may Allāh preserve him, about a person who owns 70 grams of gold and also owns cash. If he were to combine it with the gold, it will reach the threshold for Zakah and even exceed it, does he have to pay Zakah? He answered - may Allāh preserve him: لا يجب عليه، ولا تضم الأوراق النقدية مع غيرها لتكملة النصاب ، لكن لو كان معه أكثر من عملة (مثلا: سعودي-دولار- يمني) فإنه يضمها إلى بعض لتكلمة النصاب ، فالأوراق النقدية (العملات) بمختلف أنواعها تضم إلى بعضها .اهـ ‟It is not obligatory for him [to combine between the two]. Cash is not combined with other assets to complete the threshold. However, if he has more than one currency (for example: Saudi, US dollar, Yemeni), then he combines them together to complete the threshold, as cash (currencies) of different types are combined together.” Transmitted by: أبو أنس محمد بن علي الصراري __ 📲 More Misc. ⤵️ https://t.me/miscyemenibenefits
