Cooking is an act of worship if the intention is right
Question: May AllΔh reward you with goodness and treat you kindly. Our sister says that she enters the kitchen from after 'AαΉ£r prayer to prepare the ifαΉΔr meal and does not leave until Maghrib adhΔn. What is the ruling on that? [She says] It is worth noting that I do not prepare a lot of food and dishes, and I listen to some religious tapes while I am in the kitchen.
Sheikh FawzΔn αΈ₯afidhahullΔh answered:
βThere is no harm in that, and you are engaged in a rewardable act inshaAllΔh; If you enter after 'AαΉ£r to prepare ifαΉΔr, tending to the need of the fasting persons, and continue working until sunset, there is reward for you in this from AllΔh - if your intention is sincere. And if you listen to beneficial tapes or the Qur'Δn radio or beneficial programs, this is added goodness and additional benefit. Yes. Praise be to AllΔh.β
